Wang Changcheng‘s work revolves around a core question: how are the orders we take for granted constructed, and why do they collapse?
By using everyday materials and technical media, he transforms abstract concepts into tangible, perceptible entities: monks chanting pi around a signal tower, fruits and vegetables sculpted into dehydrated statues of great figures, neural networks generating illusory leader images, discarded nutshells cast into monuments, and filial piety reduced to a fermentation process…
These works do not attempt to provide answers but invite the audience to confront the fragility of order: how do religion, technology, and power depend on and coexist with each other? Is ethics a matter of emotional choice, or a byproduct of material surplus …
They guide the audience to reflect on how, in the deconstruction of the old order, we can rebuild the meaning of existence amid flow and change.
To better understand Wang Changcheng’s works, this website divides the themes of the works into five sections. First, “Faith and Technological Authority” focuses on the intertwining of faith and technology in modern society, revealing their fragility and interdependence; “Identity and Social Roles” explores the fluidity and uncertainty of individual and social identities; ” Stability, Sublimity, and Immortality” challenges the stable symbols within politics, history, and society; “Images and Forms” examines the instability of memory and symbolism through techniques and formal experiments; finally, “Energy Transformation” delves into the deep relationships between energy, matter, and the life cycle through the conversion of matter and life.

他通过日常材料和技术媒介，将抽象的概念转化为具体可感知的实体：法师围绕信号塔诵念圆周率，水果与蔬菜被雕刻成脱水的伟人雕像，神经网络生成虚幻的领导者形象，废弃的坚果壳被翻制为纪念碑，孝道则被简化为发酵反应……
这些作品并不试图给出答案，而是邀请观众直面秩序的脆弱性：宗教、技术与权力是如何相互依赖、共生的？伦理究竟是情感的选择，还是物质剩余的副产品……
它们引导观众思考：在旧秩序的解构中，我们如何在流动与变动中重新构建生存的意义？
