Monuments are often seen as a means to resist the passage of time and the decay of memory, proclaiming immortality through the permanence of form. However, this attempt to fix things in an unchanging state is essentially a futile struggle against the entropy of time.

Nut shells are highly consumable materials in daily life, and their fragility contrasts sharply with the “eternal” image of traditional monuments. Yet, they are natural molds capable of preserving form.

Wang Changcheng utilized the shells of sunflower seeds, pistachios, peanuts, and walnuts, casting them in plaster to create a series of small sculptures, which were then placed on pedestals proportionate to their size.
